Finn found this pair. of mating praying mantises last Friday while helping a neighbor. I ran home to get my camera but couldn’t find it because someone had been making home movies of Gopher Guts… So I grabbed our largest bug habitat and ran back to Finn. We observed them for a couple of days, betting on whether or not the female would eat the male. She decapitated him on Saturday but never consumed him (he continued mating for another 24 hours!).
Guess what we found this weekend…

what the girls found at Fort Mountain
Finn and Babo found this huge lizard, already missing his tail, at the overlook on Saturday. She uncharacteristically screamed like a little girl when he decided to run away. Fallie caught several insects on our long hike through the woods. Some even spit on her fingers but she just wiped the goo on the bark of a tree and laughed.
