Lounging with Willa
Finn, Fall and I went to visit my mom for four days while Mumblelard was required elsewhere. We also went to Aunt Claude’s and used her pool and played with her animals (four indoor dogs, one sweet dog that stays outside, four horses, and two chickens). It was a good trip while not missing K.
Finn at the splashground.
It only cost $1 to play in the water and they have two covered areas. We always bring our folding camp chairs to parks (so much more comfortable and you can move them into the shade!) so this was rather enjoyable for all.

We returned from the Smoky Mountains on Saturday but we are not ready to be back. I miss my mountains and my little river.
snow day
Seriously, they cancelled school today. In the recent past school has been cancelled just because snow was possible here. And then it DIDN’T snow! Hahahahaha.
inside out jim jams with a spoon under your pillow
Sometimes the old tricks work best. Last night, the girls turned their jim jams* inside out and slept with spoons under their pillows. This primitive appeal to the snow spirits was heard, and this morning, Fulton county schools have canceled classes for the day giving the girls their second ever no-school-snow-day. Not only that, but the ice cream factory has canceled all meetings and made office hours optional today, so I will be working from home.
*We had some British next door neighbors for a while when Finn and Fallie were younger, and a few of their expressions stuck. Jim jams can also refer to the D.T.’s, so it also has that going for it. Also, most of the kids in our neighborhood still refer to bicycle training wheels as “stabilizers.”

sleet!
We keep hoping to get some snow but a little bit of sleet actually fell yesterday. Finn went on the deck to catch some of it (barely visible in her hair).
We did it!
This is what Finn and her friends yelled at the close of the first performance of the school play. She was fantastic. I am super proud of her. We attended the second show and my mom came from Tennessee to watch too. It was a good evening.
