These toys have a snap glued onto the bottoms so you can wear them on your jacket. I have no problem stealing these from Fallie.
When do you think he’s gonna fly?
(this little moth is not from the science kit)
A gift for Fallie
The little entomologist’s grandpa made this for her and hand delivered it. It involves gold spray-painted cicada shells and butterfly wings. He and I had similar ideas… Close ups appearing soon.
Insects Fallie found in the mountains
She found a few others that we were unable to photograph before we released them back into the wild. Unfortunately, the girls did not get to see the luna moth but I took a photo to show them. I had never seen one alive before and was so happy to see this one. These photos make me realize that we need to learn much more about insects. I have no idea what kind of dragonflies we saw or what type of spider that was (he was going under water to get away!).
Today’s insects
Fallie found these two caterpillars in our yard and driveway. They are super fuzzy and very fast. She loves them like they are little kittens.

Bugs
“Take care when collecting bugs not to keep them from their natural habitat for too long and to return them to their natural surroundings. Most bugs serve a useful purpose.” - Flights of Fancy
reversible insect paper
I bought this paper a few years ago and cannot bear to cut it up. It is too big for the scanner but you get the idea here. I love that the bottom of each insect is printed on the back of each sheet. I guess it is about time to do something with it…
