Lounging with Willa
Finn, Fall and I went to visit my mom for four days while Mumblelard was required elsewhere. We also went to Aunt Claude’s and used her pool and played with her animals (four indoor dogs, one sweet dog that stays outside, four horses, and two chickens). It was a good trip while not missing K.
We took a short walk yesterday or Finn foraging for wine grapes
The family Mumblelard has a favorite candy. People either love them or, more often, hate them. I enjoy the texture and flavor so much, and they taste just like the wine grapes I used to pick and eat as a child in Knoxville. Luckily I had just finished my apple and had a spare baggie to reuse. K and the girls picked grapes while I documented. It was a nice, quiet weekend.
The Skull Girls version of ring around the rosy.
Finn at the splashground.
It only cost $1 to play in the water and they have two covered areas. We always bring our folding camp chairs to parks (so much more comfortable and you can move them into the shade!) so this was rather enjoyable for all.
Finn jumping off the rocks
More photos from our vacation… The rocks go out from the cliff under the water several feet, and just beyond the rock’s edge is a very small area where the river is over an adult’s head. Kids come to this area specifically to jump from those cliffs (and climb dangerously high to do so). We have never seen anyone get hurt but the possibility always worries me. This is the first time Finn has jumped in any way off of the rocks. You can tell she was nervous by the way she is tucking her hair behind her ears.
Finn in the Little River
This is the exact spot on the river where my family has been swimming since I was a few months old. I am still terrified every time we park on the side of the mountain (and I have only driven twice!) but it is the best spot. Obviously our girls love it. This year we were able to convince two cousins who absolutely hate swimming (according to their parents) to get in. They had to be dragged out too.
Cell Structure Project Pack
This is a present Finn received for the winter holidays and she decided to work on it today. She has been making a plant cell for hours now! I have helped her a tiny bit (printing from the computer because I was using it, cutting foam board with a knife, finding something to use in place of plastic wrap and newspaper) and she is having so much fun.
We made Ola Rolls this morning
Finn loves making dough and baking. Despite the heat, we are having hot soup for dinner tonight and these are so much better than any bread I can get at the grocery store. I have had trouble with the yeast in the past but Mumblelard taught me his technique from pizza night and it was perfect today. The whole house smells so good and Finn had so much fun. I finally gave in and let her take over. She did a great job.
Boogie kiss
I tried to document the entire terrarium-making process but most of it took place in the dark basement… Here is Fallie arranging little rocks in the bottom of her jar. I like this picture because I accidentally captured Boogie kissing Finnie.
