somebody is feeling better
Somehow K manged to avoid the plague and proved to be very, very lucky. I don’t know if it was a stomach virus or the flu but we are all feeling better now. Finn still gets worn out quickly but appetites are coming back and we are all more active. Gopher Guts is panicking - she LOVES a kid with a fever. She was able to snuggle with someone 24 hours a day for a week straight so now she is being a brat and won’t leave me alone.
Thank you to all of our imaginary friends who sent us messages, wishes for a quick recovery and good vibes. It was greatly appreciated and cheered me up quite a bit. Sorry I didn’t respond to everyone - it was a difficult week and a half…
BC - the skull girls and I would still LOVE to see some funny animals if you happen to come across anything good… Thanks so much!
the school clinic called or how to ruin Fallie’s weekend
Fallie is home sick with a low fever and sore throat. Tonight her sister is going to a friend’s birthday party (a sleepover with laser tag!) so Fallie invited a friend to spend the night here. Big bummer. Poor kid is on the couch watching a movie about fairies (have I mentioned that she hates tv?) and looks awful. At least she isn’t throwing up - that is so much worse.
another snow day?
It started snowing this morning and it is supposed to keep snowing all day! I was surprised that the Atlanta schools didn’t close (they usually close when there is just a threat of snowfall). Fallie’s teacher e-mailed a photo of her class and my kid, who HATES having her picture taken, was the happiest-looking one of all! Maybe they will be released early and get to play outside and have hot chocolate this afternoon.
the warmest spot in the house
Gopher Guts is holding her “hurt paw” in the position she uses to get sympathy. It doesn’t work on me or Mumblelard but the girl children buy it every time. I think she looks moronic doing that and I always laugh at her. Sometimes she does this when she gets in trouble and clearly is not in pain. Oh yeah - Fallie likes to warm up by this heat vent and pretend she is also a cat.
what Fallie and I made after school
She asked me to help her make an apron and I had the time that day. She absolutely loves this apron. The pocket is just the right size for Muffin Mouth and it is for crafting. Fallie almost wore it to bed that night and she put it on first thing in the morning and almost wore it to school. It would have been fine with me if she wore it either of those times but she gets embarrassed sometimes. It made me laugh that she loves it so much that she doesn’t want to ever take it off.
homemade slime
The only way I have been able to get this girl to stop running and jumping and be still so she can rest her broken foot is to let her play with slime. We did not make slime at her sister’s birthday party because there were way too many kids. The recipe really works and Fallie quickly became obsessed with her slime. She played with it for over an hour and I actually captured her smile in photos!
old one foot*
I took Fallie to the urgent care facility today. She has been limping on and off for a week but yesterday her foot looked swollen and it was hurting in a different place than originally described. Holy crap! How can you run around on a broken foot? How can you run around with TWO broken bones in your foot?! She has a splint until we can get in to see the pediatric orthopedist.
*She still has two feet but only one is working so we have brought back her old nickname.
seriously the best French Toast I have ever made
Fallie at the little river with Friday ponytails
Finn and I dug this photo out yesterday as we were searching for pictures for her school project. Fallie never liked things in her hair but she went through a short phase of wearing her hair like this because it made her look like Friday, a long haired dachshund* we know.
* This is not her but looks very similar.
happy girls
