Fallie in her new Hammelhorn vest
I never thought I would make peach colored icing… but Fallie had a “play in the dirt” birthday party and I made an earthworm cake*. Red velvet is great for innards and the birthday girl loved it.
*I know that earthworms don’t have eyeballs but it looked cuter this way.
The skull girls offered me flowers on the morning of my birthday.
Happy birthday to my sweet Finn!
She will be eleven years old this evening. She was climbing trees and riding her bike this past weekend and looked so happy. I barely have to look down to look into those beautiful blue eyes any more. The neighborhood kids are coming over to play games and have cake this afternoon. We are working on her cake and I hope I can get the icing the correct color… I’m so glad she is mine.
Happy birthday to my beautiful girl!
Thank you Mumblelard!
Coconut cake at bedtime
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to purchase a premade cake yesterday. Fallie was willing to bake me a cake by herself but I opted for the store made cake - I had to go buy beer anyway. K got home at about 8:00 and they sang happy birthday to me, we ate cake, I opened presents, and the girl children went to bed. That cake tasted pretty darn good too!
This song reminds me of so many things.
Going to a record store with my best friend from 7th grade to find this record album (yes, vinyl, not a cd) when it came out. Even better, listening to this in Mumblelard’s green Volvo when we met. Please to enjoy!

Happy Birthday Finn!
Here she is opening some presents and having her third dessert to celebrate. We had a huge cake at her birthday party, pudding at school and cupcakes at home on her actual birthday. We even got ten candles on one cupcake without setting anything else on fire! She is growing up and there are lots of things to worry about but these were good days. She is amazing.
