Eastern box turtle
We throw fruit and vegetable scraps into our backyard, which is more than twenty feet below the kitchen window (our house is on a slope and has a basement). It is a totally wild ravine, with a little creek, tons of poison ivy, and lots of critters. Sometimes we also throw old bread out there because we know it will be eaten by something. Today, as I went to throw some orange peels out, I saw this little guy… eating a piece of sour dough bread! I had to climb down there to get a good photograph but it was well worth it!
