crap

So Fallie got sick five days ago and no one else in the Mumblelard household seemed to be coming down this horrible stomach virus. We had a false alarm on Monday when the school clinic called me to come pick up Finn. Her back and neck hurt and she was just feeling “bad.” She didn’t have a fever and she felt better that afternoon. We were so lucky! Then last night happened. Just as I was falling asleep, Finn got up to go potty and said she felt nauseaus. This isn’t too unusual any time someone is sick. She went back to bed. But it got ugly at 2:45 in the morning when the puking started. And again at 4:00 am, in their bedroom, on the carpet and down the side of the bed. Ug… I feel like someone is stabbing me in my stomach. Am I coming down with this? Is is sympathy pain? Exhaustion (that was about 4 hours of sleep people)?

 Finn, ready for laser tag
Last Friday, Finn went to a friend’s birthday party which included a few rounds of laser tag at a local “entertainment centre.” This is how she dressed (white is for losers, no really - they use black lights). She asked me to give her a battle pony and I cracked up.

She just asked me if she can have a gogurt. I think we are going to make it.

I hope Fallie’s feeling better.

Thanks for the well-wishes. Yesterday was a bad one - full of worries and grouchiness. How long can an eight year old subsist on two crackers and half a gogurt  per day? Plus the school clinic called to say that Finn wasn’t feeling well (she is fine BTW, especially once it got up to 60 degrees outside - no you cannot go outside to play if you come home sick from school!) so we had to go pick her up at 10:00 yesterday. But this morning is better. I feel so much relief seeing her eat a damn granola bar (pretty much candy, I know, but it is something!).

sherry:

Sorry Brerfly I know I should leave that as a comment but I can’t seem to remember when I should and can’t access your comments properly from my iPhone for some reason and I’m lazy.
Anyway. Update please!

uh oh

So Fallie just threw up. Yeah. It’s gonna be a long night.

the school clinic called or how to ruin Fallie’s weekend
Fallie is home sick with a low fever and sore throat. Tonight her sister is going to a friend’s birthday party (a sleepover with laser tag!) so Fallie invited a friend to spend the night here. Big bummer. Poor kid is on the couch watching a movie about fairies (have I mentioned that she hates tv?) and looks awful. At least she isn’t throwing up - that is so much worse.

This is the Donnie Darko song that I am reminded of by some other song K played for me and I can’t remember what it was. Helpful.

rituals performed to get a snowday*

  • flush ice cubes down your toilet
  • wear your jim jams inside out
  • sleep with a spoon under your pillow

*unfortunately it didn’t work this time but school did begin two hours late today (it’s not fair! says Fallie)

another snow day?

It started snowing this morning and it is supposed to keep snowing all day!  I was surprised that the Atlanta schools didn’t close (they usually close when there is just a threat of snowfall). Fallie’s teacher e-mailed a photo of her class and my kid, who HATES having her picture taken, was the happiest-looking one of all! Maybe they will be released early and get to play outside and have hot chocolate this afternoon.

pomelo

It took me twenty minutes to supreme a pomelo today and it was worth every minute! I’m sorry K but I ate the whole thing!
